Hi. Does anyone know why liberty reserve change its system in logging in accounts. I cant access my account. I dont have a username. only acct. no. pls. help. thanks.

jambutty
I also get that strange logging in page but I have no idea why.

I think that LR might have been hacked and someone is gathering in logging in details.

When LR gets back to normal change your password. Fortunately without the “Master Key” no one should be able to empty your account. Although with just a 3 digits number there are only 1,000 different combinations and it will depend on how many wrong attempts are allowed.

jambutty
I am pleased to report that I have just logged into my account, albeit a bit slower than usual, but all was OK. :)

tmasinc
I have also had some strange log in problems with Liberty Reserve, which have been happening for the last week or so.What concerns me the worst is when I requested a withdrawal from my account balance in one of my programs to be transfered to my LR account,it,instead, went to a DIFFERENT LR account number. This happened on 6/14.I have since been in touch with Jeff at Gold Poll to see if he can figure out how this happens.Maybe you might also have some ideas on how this could happen.

jambutty
Whenever you make a withdrawal from an HYIP it usually states the account number that the money is going to go to.

You should always check that it is the correct number.

Unscrupulous admins have been know to change your profile to a different account, make the payment and then change it back to what it was. Or an HYIP has been hacked and the hacker has changed all accounts to his own so that when a payment is made he gets it and not you.

tmasinc
Thank You Jim(jambuddy) for your input.
Hopefully,Jeff (Gold Poll) is checking this out.I hesitate to post a bad vote untill I can find out for sure where the blame lies.Could I possibly have some thing in my own computer that can re-direct funds to a different LR account when I request a withdrawal from any Hyip site that uses LR?

Anything is possible these days. It is unlikely that you will have something nasty on your computer that will change the LR account for every HYIP that you are with.

However do a complete sweep of your computer with every anti-something software that you have just to make sure.

Hopefully you will have a decent firewall and good quality anti-virus software running and both are kept up to date with updates.

You must let us know the result.

Best of luck.

Hi Jim(jambuddy)!!!!
I can, FINALLY,give you an update on what I think occurred to my account. It has taken over 2 weeks of searching!!
Yesterday, with the help of your recommended,"Hijack This",program and "What is My IP Address",program,I identified the "NASTY!!-NASTY"!!!......on my computer!!!
My IP address had been hijacked(stolen) and sent to another "Host"!!!! This "NASTY" lays there and waits for you to log on to the internet. It IMMEDIATELY chages your IP address and Domain to theirs.
Jim,if you would like,I would gladly send you all the details of what I found and where I think I acquired this, along with file names. It is quite extensive,so it will take me a few days to get it organized.Hopefully, you can decifer and recap better than I can,so everyone here can benifit from this.
Untill this is all sorted out,The first thing I entend to do when I log on to the internet is to go to "What is My IP address" program and make sure I am at my right address and location with the RIGHT host!!!!!!
Good Luck Everyone!!!....tmasinc

jambutty
Much obliged for your report.

I would rather that you posted your findings in this thread then everyone can see and comment. I’m not the genius oracle – just an ordinary guy like you and the rest, although a bit older.

You say it will be quite lengthy. Well there is a total character limit on posts so post your report in two parts or even three or four if it is that long.

Liberty Reserve site is undergoing a system software upgrade today. The process is scheduled to be completed in less than 12 hours.

Finally Liberty Reserve is UP!!!!!!!! I really hope that this time was the last time of the site beying down for such a long time!

Finally Liberty Reserve is UP!!!!!!!! I really hope that this time was the last time of the site beying down for such a long time!

Unfortunately it appears to be under maintenance again  At least for me anyway.

jambutty
Me too Allyco.

There is more to this down then up then down time than routine maintenance.

I can't make a deposit through SCI (Shopping Cart Interface) of LR. Anyone has the same problem?

Damon
SCI doesn't work for me too. I've got an error when I was trying to pay through it.

mr.collipark
Browsed different resources, I found that LR is up. Of course, there are downtimes, but in general everything are working.

Hello mr.collipark,
Whether you are new to the HYIP world or have a wealth of experience behind you, a very warm welcome to you from admin, moderators and our happy band of forum members. We are here to help each other.

You might like to refresh your memory of the forum rules at http://goldentalk.com/t7526.html and you can post your comments about them at http://goldentalk.com/t25587.html

If you are an out and out newbie to computers and the Internet these could be useful to you.

If you have some time to spare maybe you would consider having a read of the following threads.

You should find them useful.

Finally a couple of tips on DD.
Go to http://www.goldpoll.com/ or .net or .org. As far as the IE browser is concerned go to the menu Edit and select ‘Find (on This Page) and in the Find what: field type in the name of the programme that you are researching. Just the name will do and not the URL. If GoldPoll is monitoring the site you will be taken to it quickly. Other browser may do things differently so you may have to search for the ‘Find’ facility.

Back in the forum do a search for the programme. Once again just its name should be enough. If there is a thread or threads for that programme you will be shown a list of them.

Good Luck!

Have you noticed that Liberty Reserve max fees increased from $0.99 to $2.99? It seems that the more popular it becomes, the bigger fees will be.

Wealthsystems
Libertyreserve works very like E-gold :)

jambutty
Hello Wealthsystems,
It works better.

It isn’t so easy to get an account blocked and all transfers need an EXTRA PIN before any money leaves the account.

Liberty Reserve will be unavailable on September 25th between 09:00 and 11:00(GMT). According to LR blog, this upgrade will give a faster and more productive system.

satria
Libertyreserve works very like E-gold :)

Except that LR is more secure than egold, we need to input our master key to be able to transfer money while egold doesn't.

janenassam
I have lost plenty money when e-bullion and altergold vanished and I am not sure about liberty reserve. Can anyone tell if liberty reserve is secured or the are also planning to vanish.

Stock999
Nobody can tell you exactly what may happen tomorrow. Otherwise he is God or just a liar.
In order to minimize possible losses you may do the following:
1. Do not keep more e-currency than you plan to use in the nearest future,
withdraw your profit to a bank account or to debit card at time.
2. Split your total e-currency fund to several processors, such as Libertyreserve, Perfectmoney, others.

I also lost some money in ebullion, it crushed while i had a relax at a seaside.
But this is a life...

satria
Indeed, just like an HYIP, we will never know how long a money processor will operate, no one can guarantee such a thing. But in my opinion, as long as their business give them much profit, there is no reason to shutdown and close their own business unless they're insane.

lanshaire1976
The way things are now, I feel safe to a degree with liberty reserve due to there terminal upgrade and security improvement processes in place. I have been on LR for about a year now and with my experience, I think they are ok. Nothwistanding I will also advice you not to leave too much in the account.

today, in this moment I'm not able to make payment with LR....very slowly....

transmarine1
I just made 3 investments throw my LR account without any problem.

satria
No problem for me, i can log in and make some payments smoothly, maybe it's just a temporary server problem.

Dimk
No problem here either; made and received payments ok.

miumiu
today is fine.
5 minute ago no problem, sent fast as usual

mausyo
the last 4 posts where members telling they haven't experienced problem. And the orginal post where another member posted he had a server problem was like what ? A 3 days ago ? It surely was a temporary problem. I don't think is necessary for everyone to say the same thing one page more.

Sorry for ranting :D
In case you wonder .. yeah i run liberty reserve smooth also.

Dimk
Just for the record, you are wrong; it is obvious that the 3 posts were made only 1 & 1/2 - 4 hours after amely reported problem.

News from LR:

Today, January 28th, 2009, Liberty Reserve S.A. would like to officially announce its office inauguration. Among parties invited are CEO's of various banks and companies, government official representatives, a well respected GoldExchange.eu exchanger, press and media. More information about this event will become available later.

No wonder they have been inaccessible for the past 18 hrs!! They are all out partying :)

Are you sure you logging in to LR from a clean pc ? have you visitied any phishing sites before ? did you ever give your account information to anyone else ?

cleeon
lost money in LR ? can you explain why it can happened to us, hoekstraface ? are you mean lost your money caused LR or you lost money after use that into some programs on internet ?

like Stock999 post above, only GOD who know the future. We just can watch their business stability from their news release, issue from internet (such as from forum, blog, third parties news, etc), look if they still get profits from their business.

We can not do anything from force majeure caused. Except we have more power, but most of us can't do anything.

like e-gold case, they have against USA goverment, when they goes to lower rate e-currency, is e-gold case caused force majeure, how about other opinion ?

hoekstraface
I follow one program.
After 12 hours my money lost from my LR

sinip
I follow one program.
After 12 hours my money lost from my LR

So your money disappeared from your LR account after you "invested" certain amount in that programme? Only explanation is that the programme used fake LR SCI to steal your personal information.

miumiu
Does anybody follow the Liberty Reserve refferal program ?
Is it really pay?

yes they are paid.
i am have paid from refferal program , increase to my account

cleeon
will be news which make shock member like me if LR don't pay their referral program, cause i use them mostly now for online transaction.

miumiu, how it work, like e-gold referral program ?

so whenever your referral funds their LR account you will get commission or they have better system ?

Rockstar12345
Well its really difficult to get referrals there cos most of the members have joined the site long back to get the payments from the gpt sites , i dont have any referral till now , just happy with the great service they are providing.

Rockstar12345
Yeah the only reason could be that they managed to make you enter your login details on a fake page created by them , but of course it could have been prevented if you were a bit more careful , hope you can now follow their security procedures.

sinip
so whenever your referral funds their LR account you will get commission or they have better system ?

Nope, it is one-time fee:

Referred Member.......................Referrer
$0.05 for being refered...............$0.25 for every member you refer

MONUMENT
I have lost plenty money when e-bullion and altergold vanished and I am not sure about liberty reserve. Can anyone tell if liberty reserve is secured or the are also planning to vanish.

Yeach, ...agree with SATRIA....No One Knows for tommorow.

TO Avoid, (in case being stolen from other program.)
1st> DO NOT CLICK "sci.libertyreserve" when being deposit.
2nd> Change your LR password right away after you make your 1st deposit.

Hope these 2 steps can be any your precautions.

Revorse
Nobody knows it, but I dont think that LR will go down suddenly. LR is stable and there are no reasons to worry about.

my referal said. he buy (exchange Rp to liberty) $ 40
so he decreace 1% --> $ 0.4

event it so small but if 1000 times my referal got /receive money from fee i got 10% from fee normal --> 0.1%

i think., $ 0.05 and 0.25 if we have $ 10.
couse i dont get $ 0.05 and $ 0.25 when my referal joined

but in internal transaction we can get 10% reward from he has got fee (if we can calculate = 0.1% max $ 0.29) :D

sinip

Probably your LR login&pass&pins have been stolen by a phishing site, after a scammer logged in your LR and transfered the money to own account.
Or, may be data have been stolen via a phishing e-mail. You may see examples in this thread http://goldentalk.com/t30429.html
1. At first, change your password and pins immediately
2. Use a wallet for investing to hyips. In this case you don't need to type
the login pin. So, your main account will be safer.

Also in the LR account history you may check the last transaction and the scammer's account No. Could you publish it here? as a notification for others...

kompresor
The site (libertyreserve.com) itself IS secure. Look, you have "Welcome message" where you need to check if it is yours or not and a master pin, which can be entered only by a virtual numpad. So at least the people who made this website know a little about security.

I guess if there is a "welcome message" and a pin which can be entered by numpad only, then LibertyReserve must have asked for a website with a strong (yes, strong) security. And if they did, then the server must have a few good mechanisms implemented.

miumiu
ok i see we can see that in our transaction history , hmm that is really good , will try now to get some referrals there as if we refer a big trader then we will get lots of bonus there.

yup, it is good idea referrals trader newbie , becouse old trader (senior) maybe have account LR.

hoekstraface
We must have $ 10 in our account so that LR is not considered frake account.
By the LR does not pay if we do not meet the requirements of the above

hoekstraface
Since that time I started very carefully each invest in a HYIP that such incidents do not recur again

satria
i suggest you to install libertyguard to prevent yourself from visiting and logging in to phishing sites, here is the link http://goldentalk.com/t31828.html

cleeon
i think libertyreserve have a good and care with security. They use pin for login and need confirmation key number to make any transaction to other account holder.

one of exchanger in my country sell some software/script which make user can check and make transaction with their funds in LR without need to login to their LR account the script come with encripted 128 bit ssl (if i not wrong), they offer that few month ago and they are trusted exchanger in my country.

the price is around $100 usd -- > i forgot it too.

if anyone here know/ already have that, maybe you want to share experience using it to us.

hoekstraface
I think other than the fake email that steal passwords and pin us, some HYIP should also suspect because they can also do the same

cleeon
I think other than the fake email that steal passwords and pin us, some HYIP should also suspect because they can also do the same

is it really any hyip do suspicious act to their investor email ?

i think only scammer do that or maybe hacker who build hyip site and run it to do that, anyone here ever think about that possibility ?

Rockstar12345
Yeah i think some other hyip tried to do that , though i forgot the name , they put their own fake site instead of LR for depositing and then hacked the account , but i dont think there are many sites like that.

Well, this latest maintenance took a little longer than expected, so they must have their reasons for that.
Anyway, the situation with LR is generally much better now than in the past when it was rather often down, even for several days.

thanks for your explanation...
i'll do nothing here because that maintenance

Dimk
From the LR blog:

We apologize for the unexpected delay during this maintenance phase. Once we started upgrading the SSL and finalizing the setups we have decided to finish all other pending Cisco updates as the system is experiencing less traffic over the weekend and the effect on the system should be minimal. We are expected to resume full operation shortly.

Once again, we sincerely apologize for unexpected delay.
Your patience is apprecitaed.

well seems that this is the longest time that this site has undergone such maintenance. cause before it will mostly take not more than two days the most though they have maintenance from time to time. so i guess it really makes us all worried about this site long delay on getting back online. i hope it will not follow those other scam payment processor.

Well so why is it taking so much time , have the upgrades not been done properly , i hope in this time , no hyip would go down because we would lose many earnings from there as we haven't been paid for the last few days.

The latest update

The web site should be becoming available in certain regions at first and slowly for everyone else. We could not apologize enough for the extended delay. But Liberty Reserve has always chosen privacy, security and safety as issues of primary concern. Please, as always, rest assured that Liberty Reserve remains the safest place to conduct your financial transactions, and while outages are hard to forecast, we would like to assure you that everything will be done in our power to minimize those to the bare necessary minimum. Including adding two mirrors (that are being implemented now).

Please note that the ONLY OFFICIAL source of information regarding the status of our system is this blog and not any other forum or a newsletter or an e-mail. You may be introduced to some quite bizarre rumors during this outage and false information that was cooked up by an unfriendly and dishonorable competitors but as always, Liberty Reserve will lead the way and is not going anywhere for many years to come.
We have committed ourselves to offer the best service - and we will.

Yeah very true.. and it's also annoying to keep waiting. All payments are pending. I am supposed to be paid 4 times now in HYIP but I don't get any coz of this.

Liberty Reserve still not availlable yet on my end.
It is over 4 days now...... :unhappy:

How long does it really take to do thorough site maintainance??

jambutty
I’m in OK too, all is well and I’ve started to receive pending withdrawals.

That can happen sometimes when a site has been down for a while bluestone. It doesn’t always become available for all parts of the world at the same time.

That is why we ask members to put their location in their profile so that we know which part of the world they are in.

Dimk
Well, no reason to worry bluestone; things seem to get better, so it is going to be accessible for you also in short.
According to LR blog
The web site should be becoming available in certain regions at first and slowly for everyone else.

Also, there have been reports that SCI and API are not yet fully operational but the important thing is that it finally came back online and it appears that gradually LR goes back to normal.

according to their official blog, we are no need to worry about that. LR look like adding new features to their service and hope would that usefull for most members.

Dimk
is it down again right now ??

According to my HYIP, my few requests for withdrawals were processed. And, I did not receive LR's notifications. So, I tried to log into my LR account to check.
But, LR site rejected my log-in because it detected I was accessing my account from a new location.
It says: " ... .. .. to report to Support if this is a mistake.. .. "

It is reassuring to know you encountered the same problem but it was resolved for you automatically after a few hours.
I will try again a few hours later, as you suggested.

It was alright yesterday. I did get through to my Liberty Reserve account page yesterday.
Today, I just couldn't log-in.

The only difference I know is, today I was trying to log-in from a new location. Could it be because of my new IP? I don't know.

LR is now introducing an IP address checking to make our account more secure and safe. This feature is enabled by default, so if you try to login from a different IP address than is stored in your account profile, your access won't be granted.

It would be better to turn it off if you want to be able to access your account from other locations or having dynamic ip addresses.

The only difference I know is, today I was trying to log-in from a new location. Could it be because of my new IP? I don't know.

Is your current ip address different from your last successful login ? have you tried to login using a different browser ? Or.. maybe Jim was right, you just need to wait few hours and retry.

yes, after i do research and ask to my friend, the problem is cookies in my firefox browser., need to clear it to make maintenance page at LR site change to index page again :D

now i can login smoothly and sure can do transaction again

thank's in advance for your help

jambutty
My IP is dynamic and I have never been refused access because of a different IP and my settings are set for this to happen.

I have just disabled this for the time being just in case they start acting on it.

There is nothing worse than not being able to get into your payment processor account. If that happens without a reason my first thoughts are has it been hacked somehow? Swiftly followed is my money still there?

Dimk
Same as jambutty here; dynamic IP but never been denied access. However, I also have disabled this function for now, just in case.

starapple
I can access LR since last night and I am from the Phils. I hope it wont be down again.

starapple
In this case, you will need libertyguard installed on your firefox browser to get rid of LR phishing sites. Visit our Libertyguard's discussion here (http://goldentalk.com/t31828.html) for more details.

Yes, I have it installed already. Also, LR doesn't send even notification emails to me so I don't believe any email from them and I always check my account itself.

bluestone

Thank you very much, Satria, for your information.

Nowadays, many of us are using laptops. So, change of ip address is so common. They should have another feature, such as sending a 1-time pin number to members' e-mail, to verify or to allow members' login from different address.

Could you please advise me on the following:

Is your current ip address different from your last successful login ?

Yes, my last successful login was different at location/ip from my current location/ip address.
I also noticed that my ip address could change even when I am using my computer at the same location to login.
So, having dynamic ip address is really necessary.

[QUOTE=satria]Or.. maybe Jim was right, you just need to wait few hours and retry.

In my case, this has not been worked.
I waited overnight to repeat my login. And, the same rejection happened. By rejection, I mean the site returns me to the same login page after I put in my member's number, password, and turing code and click 'next' button.

have you tried to login using a different browser ?
No, I did not login with different browser.
My last successful login was by firefox.
After reading your post, I just tried to login with Internet Explorer, but I got exactly the same result; rejection.

The prompt I get says:
"We detected that you are accessing your account from a different location. Please contact our support if you think you have received this message by mistake."
By this, I thought I need to report only if I am not accessing from different location.

I have written to Support; but, I just don't get a reply from them.

It would be better to turn it off if you want to be able to access your account from other locations or having dynamic ip addresses.
I can't login into my account to access the setting. So, I don 't even have the chance to change the setting to dynamic ip address.

Anyway, if I succeed again, where do I go to change that setting?

starapple
Does LR reset form for retrieving the password works? I've tried it so many times but always failed. It told me to contact them but they don't reply.

starapple

I actually know my password but when LR had a problem, I couldn't log in anymore so what I did is to try to retrieve it using their reset form but didn't work. I contacted them but told me the same thing and didnt reply anymore so I just made a new account.

cleeon
if your old account funds is empty i think would be not problem, except you must use new email for your new account.

i have try log into my LR account and sure i install LibertyGuard. that work fine for me.

starapple
Yes, it was empty and the only problem I had is that in one of the forex site I am in.. it uses that LR# and I had funds there. I couldn't my LR info so I had to email the site and let them remove for me to create a new one.. but yeah, gotta start from scratch.

Dear Customer.

Please note that due an update that our system suffered during the weekend, you will be able to access your account just from one IP address, this is just a temporary security measure and we apologize for the inconveniences that this could cause to your account, we will provide the multiple Ip addresses option very soon. We will need you to provide us the account number, e-mail address, date of birth and the answer to your security question, in order to update it. We will be resetting, as a security measure, the master key, so we recommend you to access the account right away when you receive the confirmation e-mail with the new master key. For further information you are able to visit us on our live chat or please click on the BLOG link in our home page.

But, I am not even sure this email reply to me actually came from Liberty Reserve because:
(a) It does not contain my name. It addresses me as "Dear Customer".
(b) It asks me for sensitive personal details.

The email is not consistent with Liberty Reserve's practice as said in its FAQ:

I have received an e-mail asking me to verify account details. How can I verify that this e-mail came from Liberty Reserve?
Liberty Reserve will NEVER send out any e-mail asking you to confirm any account details. Please DO NOT click on any links in any e-mails you receive.

Any email sent to you from Liberty Reserve MUST contain your name.

This is very troublesome and very tricky.

Dimk
Indeed, this looks fishy;
yet, you contacted the real LR. So, unless LR support don't know after all this mess what they're talking about, this might be a phishing attempt from a scammer who tries to take advantage from these LR login issues, when they became publicly known.
Did you try the live chat ?

bluestone
Yes. Dimk.
I did try to go for the live chat.
But, I couldn't get it. I got timed-out all the times. So I gave up.

Even though in this case that I put in that query at Liberty Reserve's website. could someone knew about my query, or obtain my query and answered it for LR's behalf?

I have put in another ticket to Liberty Reserve Support to ask them to confirm whether that e-mail reply actually came from them or not.
They don't reply fast.

I am worried sick.

starapple
Yeah, I doubt it also because when I did contact them for my password in my old account, they told me to use the reset form, when I did and didn't work.. I sent another email and they didn't reply already.

Knowing Lr's customer support.. it's really too bad, so I hesitate to believe that they emailed you like that.

@bluestone : by looking at your email header information, i am quite sure that it is indeed from liberty reserve help department.

as to your previous question, why it addresses you as "Dear Customer" and not by your first name, i think that's because the email was sent manually by an LR staff as a reply to your support request. How will he/she know your first name if you didn't ever tell her/him about it ?

We will need you to provide us the account number, e-mail address, date of birth and the answer to your security question
If it were from a scammer, i bet he would have asked you more information about your account (password, login pin, master key) because without these information, it's nearly impossible to get in to any accounts.

I would treat that email as highly suspicious for all the reasons that you stated and especially as it quoted “We will need you to provide us the account number, e-mail address, date of birth and the answer to your security question, in order to update it.”

LR’s unusually long down time for maintenance was odd.

Could it be that LR had been hacked somehow and that was the real cause of the down time? After all LR is unlikely to own up if the site had been hacked.

jambutty
@bluestone : by looking at your email header information, i am quite sure that it is indeed from liberty reserve help department.

Sorry satria but I don’t buy the manually sent email theory.

The email did not address bluestone by name and did ask for personal details.

LR have stated unequivocally in every email that it sends:
Please note that in all e-mails from Liberty Reserve we will:
Always address you by your first name.
Never send you any links or attached files.
Never ask you to send us your password and/or login PIN.

I just cannot see them ditching that protocol just because someone has to send an email manually.

What should happen when you try to change your password and it doesn’t work and you contact them about it, LR should respond with a temporary password. That allows you to log in and make whatever changes you see fit.
If it were from a scammer, i bet he would have asked you more information about your account (password, login pin, master key) because without these information, it's nearly impossible to get in to any accounts.
Not if he already had them and he needs the asked for information to change the details of your account to his own or one under his control.

This IP address issue also has me puzzled as to why it affects some members and not others.

I’m more than ever convinced that the recent down time was due to the site security being compromised and some member details have been ‘leaked’ to a third party and now that third party is trying to gather in the remaining details.

The blog at http://blog.libertyreserve.com/ for today reads:
“For those of you who may have seen some bizarre and ridiculous rumors about our system having any security instances - please be aware that those ARE in fact rumors.”

I haven’t heard of any rumours. Has anyone else? Why make a denial if nothing happened?

satria

I believe that it's indeed the standard procedure for LR administration staffs to reset / to unblock any accounts. If we can not provide those information to LR staffs, how will they know that the account in question really belongs to us ?

If they only need us to provide LR account number, then this service would be easily abused. Anyone can ask LR Staff to reset someone else's account by simply giving them LR account number and tell them fake stories.

OK, someone has same problem and he contacted LR through a live chat, here is their conversation :

Either we contact them through email or Live chat, these information (account number, e-mail address, date of birth and the answer to your security question) are needed to prove that we are the right owner of the account.

satria
What should happen when you try to change your password and it doesn’t work and you contact them about it, LR should respond with a temporary password. That allows you to log in and make whatever changes you see fit.

LR would not respond to our request to change password if we failed to provide the information needed (account number, e-mail address, date of birth and the answer to our security question). And please be informed that our date of birth and the answer to our security question are not stored in our LR account profile, so in case that someone had succesfully compromised and logged in to our account, he would never know our date of birth and the answer to security question.

Not if he already had them and he needs the asked for information to change the details of your account to his own or one under his control.

If he already had them (password, login pin and master key), then it's enough to change the details of our account, because he would only need to input Master Key for the changes to be granted.

Yes I did, there were some complaints that API was hacked and some folks lost serious money. I can hopefully dig you the link(s) about that from my browser's history, if you are interested?

It is said that the owner of that account has never had API enabled in his account but strangely his money wiped out through LR API only 1 day before LR long downtime.

starapple
Wow! That's such a big amount then. The owner of that should have created at least other accounts to spread the money because having such big amount saved is one of the targets I think.

Although my IP security box was ticked, having a dynamic IP I have never had a problem logging in because of a different IP. I have unticked it for now just in case the IP security bit becomes active.

I only get an email if it is Nuclear Invest and Capital Funds that have paid me. I do not get an email if Top Commerce, BestFXWorld, Major Barter, Nano Money and ForexLtd pay me. But I do get an email if I make a spend.

That unauthorised withdrawal of nearly $40 K was on the 27th Feb – a Friday. On the Saturday LR went down after LR spent the previous week enhancing site security. Could it be that LR took the site down after the owner of the stolen money got in touch with them, to prevent any further thefts from other accounts? Was it stolen because someone managed to compromise LR security? Or was the money stolen because the guy fell for a phishing scam?

I guess we shall never know.

When it comes to money and the Internet I prefer to err on the side of caution.

miumiu
i see that screenshort. (in .jpg from mr. satria)

why 26-01 and 27-02 can FLUSH out to zero balance (spent like all he have)
but when he got money.. he can get with good zero in behind ($ xx.000)

you can check again http://i40.tinypic.com/f6jki.jpg

my opinion, it took like monthly transfer.

satria
@miumiu: that account belongs to an LR exchanger, no wonder there are large sum of money transferred in and out.

satria

But I do get an email if I make a spend. Now i know why some of us got a notification email from LR while the others didnt.

I got 2 payments in LR today, i went to check my email and i only got 1 notification email. To ensure that everything was ok, i logged in to my LR account and checked my transaction history list. The transaction which i didn't get a notification email was done through LR API.

So that's the main reason why, if we got a payment through LR API, we won't get a notification email, but if the payment were sent manually then we'll get an email just like usual.

Perhaps LR has had it disabled due to security hole in LR API ? we shall never know.

Do not be scared :) Admin claiming to have been "hacked" is an old and tired ploy used by HYIP admins to run away with the monies. Do not believe them but know the program and your money will be gone.

Liberty Reseve service is undergoing scheduled maintenance.

hope not took a long time

Today, it has been down for several hours because of this:

Please note that in order to further protect customers who have fallen victims to recent phishing attacks, we are now implementing a new feature that will force every customer change random login information every 60 (sixty) days. Please note you will NOT be asked for your current passwords, if you are in your account - it was correct. The new advanced security system implemented will monitor everyone's account for unusual activity and will take measures from simply restricting login to your account temporarily all the way to moving your funds into temporary standby account if it feels that your account is compromised. This system is unique to Liberty Reserve in digital currencies arena and is currently only being used by very large banks. Just as always - security comes first.

We apologize for the slight downtime required to implement this change.

Changing login information every 60 days is hardly likely to prevent phishing attacks.

In any case anyone with an ounce of security consciousness about them will change the password more regularly than that.

I wonder how they will define “unusual activity”?

OK! So LR is trying to help we customers and laying the blame at the feet of phishing emails. But that smacks of an excuse to me to deflect us from the real problem, which quite naturally they don’t want to share with us, if it is that the security of the site has been compromised.

Indeed, this "unusual activity" thing remains to be explained; I guess we're going to find out. (hopefully NOT through the complains of account holders for blocked/freezed accounts).

Anyway, it seems that something had really gone wrong with LR security and they're trying to fix things.

In addition, LR debit card coming shortly, credit card now accepted for buying LR directly plus verification processes; something is changing there.
We' ll see.
The exchangers are going to be out of much of the LR game, if the card fees are relatively low.

lemon_1800
I wonder why LR has not launched any debit card yet when other new processors like Evo is able to launch a debit card within few days since their launch. I hope to see their card soon because now LR is my primary processor and I have no other way to withdraw fund in my LR.

But I think they will launch it sooner than Alertpay. AP's card is taking forever to be released and everyone is thinking that it wont be released anymore. I hope LR will not follow AP.

lemon_1800
Well, the news shocked many online exchangers who were depending mainly on LR for their income. Because now we can fund LR with credit cards, so there is no point in using exchanger any more. If LR soon comes up a feature for withdrawing funds into bank, it will look very similar to PP, AP or moneybooker.

Ah right.. so I think they would lose one currency to exchange. hehe. I think they should add Evo and other e-currencies then.. but I am sure there will still be many onlines earners who would want to use the exchange service from an e-currency to LR despite of the news.

Actually they won't lose LR completely because still people use it for withdrawal purpose, and even for funding purpose if they don't have a credit card. But I mean now they will lose almost 80% of the income from LR as most of the business people who used to buy LR in bulk now will be shifting to credit card.

When they have solved the problem of someone hacking into LR perhaps?

I received this email from Nuclear Invest:
“Hello investors,

We have informed you before that our Liberty Reserve Account was been hacked. So we are unable to process the withdrawal.

Kindly wait for 48 Hours to processed the withdrawal.

Do not worry about your investment and withdrawal process. As soon as the problem will be solved we will process.

Kindly try and understand us.”

OK! It could be just an excuse to avoid making payments but on the other hand it could be true.

The admin of NI is unlikely to fall for a phishing email so if it is true then that points to a major security problem with LR.

The admin of Floatingfastprofit is having the same problem too because his account is hacked so for now, I can't withdraw my earnings there. LR really affects so many online businesses and earners.

Dimk
Well, I start to accept that at least a large part of all this talking about LR security issues, hacked API, etc was true.
Of couse, this talking led to some exaggerations but no doubt LR is hiding something from us and still denies that their security was compromised.
Anyway, this LR mess also served as an excuse for many hyip admins to stop payments claiming their accounts were hacked (true or not) and others simply stopped paying because of no incoming cash.

starapple
Yes, I agree with you DimK. One of the HYIP sites stopped paying since LR started to be down the other week. It really affects those who have accounts to it.. and true, some HYIP sites are taking advantage of its maintenance to delay payments.

lemon_1800
I can't believe that HYIP's admin got hacked. I'm sure it must be the one of the way for HYIPs to scam easily people by giving such silly excuse. I heard some members' accounts got hacked but that was because of pishing emails issue, not simply got hacked. I still trust LR's security system.

Rockstar12345
Yes of course its a golden chance for all the admin's to run away by giving this reason , so that their account will not be reported and freezed , just lucky that there were no problems with the sites where i have investments.

What I find most unacceptable is LR's inability at prompt responses to members' tickets for their account problem.

I have not been able to access my account since leaving my home country for an assignment in neighboring country, Malaysia. I cannot access because of different location, different IP issue.

I am left completely helpless because LR was not responding to my ticket.

In its first and only email reply, LR mentioned the "1-single IP for access" is only a temporary measure. And, it would allow multiple-IPs access soon. But, I have no idea what "soon" means. It has been 2 weeks since my 2nd ticket to LR's Support. I haven't got a reply. And, I am left helpless not knowing when and how I could access my account from my present alternate IP.

Although part of the Stoic thread on TG an interesting post has appeared at http://www.talkgold.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2989696#post2989696 with reference to http://trainexservice.com/libertyfraud/ and http://ecommerce-journal.com/articles/13629_libertyreserve_is_down_for_maintenance_users_are_in_panic_whats_going_on

What is to stop an account holder opening another account, transferring the money to that account and then claiming that someone had hacked their first account? Nothing at all.

The thing that I find strange is that the ‘hacker’ of the trainexservice account http://trainexservice.com/libertyfraud/ took $47 K and left a five figure sum behind. Surely any self respecting hacker would just empty the account?

LR must be aware of this possibility and that is why they have a no charge back policy.

I’m not defending LR but before condemning them you need to try and look at all possibilities and a self perpetrated heist is a possibility.

Same problem for me as I work in India for 4 weeks then return to the UK for 4 weeks, all I get when trying to log in is -: "We detected that you are accessing your account from a different location. Please contact our support if you think you have received this message by mistake". My support ticket had the following reply -:

Dear customer.

Please provide us with the following information if you wish to restore the access to your account: account number, email address, date of birth, answer to the security question and the balance on your account. We will contact you with further information.

Thank You.

I sent them my details as requested but since then no response. The only thing now I feel is not right is the "Dear customer" part as they claim "you will always be addressed by your first name". I wait patiently but it was a reply to my ticket & no links clicked so I am unsure if I have given some scammer my details or just LR being slow to respond.

Strangly enough I have no problem logging in to my other account so I have changed all my paying hyips to that account.

And the response to the latest allegations from LR blog here:

Let us save you some time:

The following delusional remarks are fairytales:

1. Employees that are no longer with us
2. Employees, that have quit, died or got angry
3. Anything those “alleged” employees may say
4. 1 million dollars missing
5. Law suits are filed
6. There is panic some place and exchangers cannot out-exchange funds freely
7. API hacks, holes, loopholes, dust mites, microbes, viruses, etc.

Facts:

We work with same employees that we have worked with and all of them are happy to work with our company. Liberty Reserve was also recognized recently as one of the best companies to work for in Costa Rica. As you see all of this information is generated solely by a single entity, that is connected or probably requested by a circle of our competitors. It is very easy to see who is connected to what, just look for similarities in hosting, DDOS protection, acceptance or promotion of a certain payment system. This information is also “confirmed” and verified by an unknown people from unknown places on forums that hide behind proxies who are in turn promote the same article. We know that our users will not fall victims of these childish and unreal allegations. This poor and unsuccessful attempt was put in place simply to create doubts. Some victims of phishing attempts got their accounts compromised and we are working with them to trace the funds and bring responsible for that to justice.

Bottom Line:

The only official source of information is still our blog. Liberty Reserve is as strong as always and is not going anywhere. We have many plans to fulfill and are involved in many activities to promote culture, environment, safety, security and to make sure that our users have access to the same private and secure environment for their financial affairs they have grown accustomed to.

P.S. Again, and again - Do not click on any links.
P.P.S. Help Center will start working again after it was hit with a DDOS attack.

Reading it again, I observed this:

@allyco, I just shocked with your post. I never thought LR too like PP, limit our account and ask some documents to again open our account. Also I heard that LR too like PP doesn't respond to members query properly, and mostly they send just automated responses. Now I have to be more careful while dealing with LR also, as I have kept all my E-currency funds(from Evo, pp) to LR so I'll make sure I won't access my account from another state from now on. I can't afford to lose my money particularly when the amount is too high.

This whole email issue where it does not address you by name and then asks you to supply sensitive details STINKS. It is breaching two of their three points to ensure that the email is genuine and that is two too many for me. Fortunately I’ve never been denied access because my IP has changed and I have a dynamic IP.

But as soon as I saw the first post about different location access I disabled the IP thingy on both my accounts. Have you on yours? I actually cannot remember if it is disabled or not, I certainly have not changed any of the settings recently so have no idea. You can open as many accounts as you like.

What you use them for is up to you.

It is possible to own two (or more) accounts, and they are all the same, there is no Personal or Pro accounts. I think that you will have to use different e-mail address for the second one, but in today's world that shouldn't be a problem.

jambutty
You can use the same email address for each account.

Whether this is a good idea is open to debate.

But whatever email address you use you should consider making it exclusive to payment processors and not use it anywhere else.

yes i think there is no different kind of accounts here. anyways, i noticed when you forget your password it will be difficult to retrieve. cause they ask too many questions. and the hardest question is they will ask this is the last account that you have send the money too. it will be hard to remember the actual account number. i only remember the username but i have not memorized their account number. luckily i was able to remember my password and so i don't need to answer that question. cause at first i was not able to log in.

Yes. I have thais problem too. I don't know why they ask the question regarding last account figure. I can not remember well even with my own spreadsheet tally that is not always up to date to match LR's one.

.... i only remember the username but i have not memorized their account number...You dont have to memorize any account numbers. If you can remember the username, then it's enough to know which last account you send your money to by visiting this link (https://www.libertyreserve.com/en/services/info/) :)

That link takes you to a page that requires the input of an account number.

Even if you input the account number all the result shows is the “Public Information” for that account.

That's right, Jim

When we want to retrieve our LR account password, LR will provide us 3 random LR account to choose from as seen below :

So if we can remember the username, all we need to do is just go to LR Info Service (https://www.libertyreserve.com/en/services/info/) , put those 3 accounts one by one and see which one has the username in question.

It seems like a long winded way, but if it works, then fine.

I find it much easier to just keep a record of my passwords and other details in a spreadsheet and also a spreadsheet of my LR accounts.

Some may find this overkill, but this works for me :)

When I fist sign up, I print out all the filled in forms and store them in a 3 ring binder.
Then to keep them handy, I have a recipe box with the info from each site on a recipe card filed alphabetically, sitting on my desk.

Secured Roboform stores most of that stuff on my computer.

It ain't foolproof, but works most of the time :D
