But, rather because of the liquidity of the investors being used on and off to enter and exit trades in different time-frames and maintain a constant yet slow slope of the equity. So, we only know it`s value after a long time, unlike stocks that give and take instantly, relative to MFs.

Excellent points. I own some CMS energy . . . while not near as bad as Enron they did make a dive into the toilet.

Right now I do not plan on selling the stock mutual funds - as you point out they add a significant degree of diversification. And, in good years they do pay out well.

I prefer individual stocks as you can pick for yourself but if you do not have time and do some other job then you can go for mutual fund investment!
