Has anyone else experienced their browser suddenly freezing whilst surfing autosurfers and manual sites? This happens to Internet Explorer and Crazy Browser. I don’t know about any other browsers.
Once frozen you cannot close the browser down by the normal method. All you can do is call up the Windows Task Manager (left Ctrl – left Alt and Delete) and end the process. Re-launching the browser and logging in to the sites you were surfing usually cures the problem but only for a while when another infected site comes up. Which sites? Good question because it is difficult to identify. However it would appear that Fair Dinkum Surf has been blamed and suffered because of it. Black Gold Surf, Knights Gold Surf and Knight Surfers were prime candidates yesterday but not today.

I have had this happen with Firefox when surfing DadnDaves over the past two weeks. When frozen I have yet to check what site it is frozen on but will keep updated to that now that I see another person is having trouble as well with frozen browsers.

I don't think it's safe to use IE for surfing. IE is vulnerable for trojans and virus.

I’m not a computer techy so I can’t say one way or the other. All I know is that I have never used any other browser other than IE and Crazy Browser and not really had a problem with known viruses etc. You can have the best and most secure browser ever invented but it will still be vulnerable to new viruses etc. It’s not just the browser but the whole OS that is questionable and vulnerable. I never had this problem with the Amiga.
I’m told that Windows is so full of holes that I reckon it should have been named Patches because of the number of security patches issued over the years.

I knew there was a reason I liked you. Amiga!! I miss mine terribly. Windows is a nightmare to keep secure... using IE is inviting trouble but only if you don't have your computer secured against everything. You need to uncheck (in options) "install on demand" in both instances. Thats just the first step in securing your browser. The next is to make sure you have an antivirus on board. Norton is not something I would recommend, simply because of the sheer bloat. AVG is the go. Its lightweight, sits in memory and will scan outgoing and incoming email no matter which emailer you use. There are those that will say it doesnt catch everything. The short answer is that NO antivirus can catch everything and thats a fact. Its also why an antivirus is not enough to deal with the rubbish. So, you should also run Adaware , and/or spybot S&D, and/or Ewido (which is better than both of them, IMO, and picks up what they miss, as discovered recently when I had to clean out a friend's computer with over 800 nasty objects on it). A firewall is a good idea as well, just to stop uninvited attempts to intrude directly on your computer... I have no idea what the current "best" is... most people I know use zonealarm but I hated it and used to use Kerio when I was still a win user. Oh yeah... I stopped using Windows at home (still forced to at work) nearly 3 years ago now, and have gone to Macintosh OSX. As an old Amiga User you'd love OSX. Its secure out of the box and you don't even need to run an antivirus at the moment except to protect your Windows using friends. The only vulnerabilities at the moment are in Word and Excel macro viruses which become a non-issue if you don't use MS products on your Mac. No worms, no trojans, no fuss. eek. I ranted.

There is nothing like a good rant to end the day kyteflyer. My monitor is often the recipient of my rants. Especially when things go wrong.
If only Commodore hadn’t messed up with the Amiga we probably wouldn’t have to put up with Windows today. In it’s day the Amiga was the best – no arguments. When mine began to show its age on the Internet I was left with no option but to downgrade to a PC. At that time the Mac was too expensive and my Credit Card had run off and hide where I couldn’t get at it. The wimp! I did use a Mac at college on a DTP course a few years ago and liked it very much. Well it was almost the same as the Amiga so I would do. I run ZoneAlarmPro, AVG Pro, AdAware, Spy Doctor and SpyBot all updated daily. System Mechanic 6q chips in to keep things tidy and even has a look around for nasties not picked up by the rest. I get Windows updates as they become available so my computer is reasonably well protected against KNOWN nasties. The unknown will always defeat the best defences. But this browser freezing nasty gets right up my nose and I still can’t find out which site is the cause. Actually there is more than one but when you surf several at the same time it is almost impossible to identify the culprit. End of rant.
