Default Protect folders with password

You have important data in a folder and want to the folder is protected with a password? Here's how:

-Right-click on the empty place next to the folder that will be protected,
then select CUSOMIZE THIS FOLDER, then choose CREATE HTML
Document FOR THIS FOLDER.

-Then you will go into Notepad, Scroll up to see
<script language="JavaScript"> script after that press [ENTER]
to insert a line after the string. Now enter the command
this:
var pass = prompt ( "Enter the password") [press ENTER]
if (pass! = "MYPASSWORD") [Press ENTER]
(window.location = "C:") [Press ENTER]

Note: Password = "MYPASSWORD"

-Save your document
-Refresh or press F5 Explorer
-When you see the finished result

Friend, I think your tutorial is not clear. If I do right click on my fold, I cannot see any option called "customize my folder". Please clear it first. I'm very much interested in protecting my folders in this way though I know there are "n" number of softwares to protect our folders.

Bear in mind that any kind of folder protection that does not involve data encryption is useless because if someone wants to access your data, all he/she has to do is boot your PC with some "live" Linux distribution that supports NTFS read access and your data will be available.

Sinip, though it sounds very useful reply, I think only technical people can understand it. Anyway, hope someone reply to my post above.

I think it is a complex process. Usuing folder guard is better than that. It will hide your important programs. In order to show those programs again, you need to login again in folder guard with a password which you will create first.

It is not free. But license key is available for free in online if you search google enough.

Well I don't need to protect and set passwords on my folder, I think the security login is enough to secure that no one will be accessing my laptop.

If you are refering to user login in Windows XP, and if someone have access to your laptop in your absence, then I must tell you that it is not enough...

I don't share access to anyone else and I don't have explicit files that I don't want to share with others so I guess I won't be needing to setup a password for every folder that I have in my laptop.

if your laptop is highly secured by strong anti veruse and you file maybe probably safe but do not let important messages on your file all the time. or even seurity password would not be help if you get some virus later.

Not a complex matter at all....I Fully agree with u lemon1800
what he means is that, ur system will boot onto a linux Operating System,
_
If ur drives are formatted in NTFS , they will simply pop up like a usb external drive...and ur paswords will be invalid,
Becoz the linux OS Will not understand the Windows encryption
and all folders will be accessable, to the linux system
_
So Running ur drive on a live linux system, that supports NTFS...
Will simply have all the data available on ur Windows drive, and will render ur passwords INVALID
