Hi CyberFreeCash, I am sorry to hear about your problems, and you are right it is a lesson to be learned to have the security cranked right up. Can I ask what security setting you had?
I would contact e-gold also and see if something can be done, you never know, although, unfortunately the record shows that not much success is had but give it a go anyway. For now, a new e-gold account to divert your funds to probably is a good idea. |

The IP is located at United States - California - San Bernardino - Fdcservers.net Llc.
You need to make your computer CLEAN and then do further things! |

I know it's of no consolation now, but you really do need to set your security settings so that they are sensitive to change of IP address - that way, any hacker would also have to know how to get into your e-mail account to get the one-time code they send to your registered address whenever a change occurs.
It's a pain in the derriere if you have to use dial-up or access the account from several places, since you're likely to have a new IP every time, but with home broadband it won't be a problem often, or possibly never, depending on whether you are guaranteed a fixed IP address. My ISP seems to have 'springclean' every so often so I do have to go through this loop occasionally. Have you trawled your PC for possible 'keylogger' malware? The thieves may have gotten away with both your e-gold and your e-mail passwords even if you were running with secure e-gold settings. Do you ever access e-gold from a work environment? Some employers plant keylogging software quite legitimately on the PCs - of course, they need trustworthy IT staff, otherwise they could run off with your precious log-ons. Another defence is to change your e-gold password frequently. Sorry for your loss - I must admit, I don't like the idea of my money lying untouched in e-gold (I'm not 100% trusting of them either). I try to make sure it's only there whilst it's on the way to somewhere else, preferably back to my bank account! |

well it doesnt matter how much security u put on ..if u can do ACCsent to max security ..there is still ways to access the account..but yes not without passphrase..
on e-gold site there is shopping cart example and in tht they have described how to access ur account without loggin on ..for example to perform transfer, balance or history i knw tht cos used this to transfer all my balance to my other account cos i forget the email i registered with and ws nt getting PIN ..and after so many request to e-gold they refused to set settings to low ..i told them i knw the passphrase ..but it ws no help ..so i did tht and got my money in other account..this shows tht AccSent does not make it fully secure.. regardz rehana |

If you responded to this type of mail maybe you let the hackers in yourself....

E-GOLD HACKING PROBLEMS (HOW TO PREVENT THEM)
#1 - Never use your E-gold password on any other sites. #2 - Use the SRK feature while entering your password. This is the little blue circular link next to the password entry box. Click on it and a small keypad will popup in which you can use your mouse to punch in your password. This can prevent Trojan virus's from gathering info on your password. #3 - Never download any software from suspicious looking sites. It is possible that it may be a trojan virus waiting to infect your computer. #4 - E-gold will never email you and ask you to log into your account with a provided link. If you get an e-gold link via email. Do not open it, and whatever you do, don't go to the site that is provided. Hackers have been sending out various emails that look like they are from E-gold. #5 - If you own a publicly known site with a publicly known e-gold account, then open another E-gold account in which nobody knows about. Then transfer funds. #6 - If it's not a hassle, change your account info so that only your IP address can login to your account. This will almost certainly stop any hackers from infiltrating your E-gold account. #7 - Run a good anti-virus software that will scan for Trojan virus's. You may have picked one up wthout knowing it. #8 - Change your password every couple of weeks. This will prevent hackers from gaining too much info on your password. Also make sure your password is more then just 5 or 6 charactors. Use #'s, letters and symbols. Here are some good anti-virus sites: Symantec Anti-Virus site: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/ windows 95/98 computer security: http://www.cert.org/tech_tips/win-95-info.html Stay safe, and protect your Gold!
