Smile Phishing Emails For LR Accounts.

I received the following from 5DayTrade, a scam site that didn’t pay me.

If you get one or a similar one from some other site or person – DO NOT ACT ON THE INSTRUCTIONS. YOUR LR ACCOUNT WILL BE EMPTIED.
Quote:
Hello dear member. Your withdrawal request was not processed because of our recent changes in script. I am very sorry for not sending you an earlier newsletter.

Briefly follow the instructions below to receive the pending withdrawal.

1. Login to your LR account, go to Merchant Tools.
2. Click on "Create new API"
3. Enter the following entries
3.1. API Name: DayTrade
3.2. Sec. Word: DayTrade1
4. Tick ENABLED
5. Tick TRANSFER
6. Tick BALANCE

Other entries should be left to default. SUBMIT the API and save it.

After doing so, please e-mail me back with your LR account number to solve it and send the funds.

Best Regards,
Martin

My LR account is U2535419. The pending total is $40.

However it is not necessary for me to mess around with API to receive payments.

So you can send the $40 right away.

Much obliged.
Martin replied:

It is necessary if you wish to receive cashout. Please please enable!!
My reply:

You must think that I came down with the last rain shower if you think that I would fall for that scam.

Just pay the $40 into my LR.
Strangely Martin never replied.

That was indeed a hilarious conversation!. I burst into laughter as i read your replies, luring him to a point where he becomes so desperate to scam you building up his expectations, thinking that anyone who comes as far as replying to a scam e-mail with their LR number and balance amount would easily fall into the trap...

Lol what a shame. The email sender seem to be a child. I have heard a lot of scam sites
that are managed by kids from 12y.0 onwards. Does he really have to say Please please? Anyway, if a person is a little stupid, they might fall for this kind of trap.

That's a new thing to me too! But if we create such API and let them know our LR account number how they could steal our money? Do anyone know the Technic. Is the API information something that we should keep secret?

Simple, you create API with username and password THEY GAVE YOU. So they just empty your account...

This is an example of phishin e-mail I got, of course DO NOT DO THIS!!!

1) Login to your LibertyReserve account
2) Click on "Merchant Tools"
3) Click on "Create new API"
4) Enter the following details:

API Name: CosmosPayments
Security Word: CosmosInstant

5) Check ENABLED
6) Check TRANSFER
7) Check BALANCE
8) Enter your Master Key and click "SUBMIT"
9) Send an email to cosmosfunds@yahoo.com as following :

***

Title : Instant Payments Request

Content : Please add me to the list of members that receive instant payments via LibertyReserve.
My username is: (write your username here)
My LibertyReserve account number is: (write your LR account number here)

Clear enough? Basically you give them the vault and the combination to open it.

The most important thing, is to be away of fake e-mails from the scammers. We must know lr can never ask you to do any changes in your account. I rather do anything to my account with their live support.
